Zone 2 police command recovers 26 stolen vehicles, 17 master keys from suspects in Lagos, Ogun

The Zone 2 Command of the Police said on Wednesday that it had recovered no fewer than 26 vehicles and 17 master keys from suspected car snatchers operating within Lagos and Ogun states.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Abdul Majid Ali, stated this at the Inauguration of the Zonal Intervention Squad, Zone 2 Command at Obada- Oko in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Ali, who said that criminals would have no hiding place in the zone, disclosed that about nine suspects had been arrested by the command in connection with the stolen vehicles within the two states.
The police boss, who was in company with the state Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu; the Olu of Itori, Oba Abdul Fatai Akamo and; the Ewekoro Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Sabitu Olumide, said that the stolen vehicles were traced by the police to as far as Edo, Delta and other parts of the country before they were recovered.
According to him,”The zone has recorded tremendous achievements. More than 26 vehicles stolen from Lagos and Ogun, have been recovered. We have also recovered 17 master keys which the suspect used in opening the vehicles”
He, therefore, called on the owners of the vehicles to come forward to claim them with their genuine particulars, assuring the residents of the two states that they could sleep with their two eyes closed.
He said that policemen operating within the Zone 2 command would make it a point of duty that all laws and policies covering adequate security of lives and properties of the residents living within the two states would be enforced.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, appealed to the members of the community to support the police in what he described as “community policing”.
He said that the doors of the command remained open for any member of the public to give the police information on crime and criminality in the state.
The Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government Area council, Alhaji Sabitu Olumide, assured the police of the support of the members of the communities under his leadership in fighting crime in the state.
