The Zamfara State Government is to spend N280 million on this year’s annual Ramadan feeding programme, the State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Abdullahi Maharazu, has disclosed.
The commissioner made this disclosure while inaugurating the feeding programme at one of the designated centres in Gusau, saying the Ramadan feeding programme was of top priority to the state government.
Maharazu, therefore, warned against sabotage on the part of cooks, supervisors and distributors, saying that high powered committee set up by the state government would not hesitate to cancel the contract of any cook or distributor found to be undermining the programme.
“The government this time around would not take negligence lightly as all necessary arrangements have been made to make the process efficient and effective. Therefore, all parties involved must ensure the success of the programme,” he said.
He disclosed that 251 centres had been designated across the 14 local government areas of the state as the Zamfara State Ramadan feeding programme was designed to assist the fasting populace of the state, particularly the less privileged, with quality meals with which to break their fast.
“To ensure delivery of quality meals to the fasting populace, a high powered supervisory committee headed by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Garba Rikiji, would fully monitor the whole process,” he said.
