Men of the Ogun state Police Command have arrested a member of a vigilante group for alleged armed robbery in the Sagamu area of the state. The suspect, identified as Adesiyan Adeniyi, was arrested in the Ewusi area of Makun in Sagamu in the early hours of Thursday with a locally made double-barrel gun with 20 live cartridges.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the arrest of Adesiyan, also explained that police operatives in the Sagamu Division had earlier placed the suspect under surveillance before he was eventually arrested last Wednesday.

“Police preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect, who claims to be a vigilante official, has been terrorising the good people of Sagamu and robbing them of their belongings on several occasions,” he said.

The PPRO also explained that items, which included a locally made double-barrel gun, 20- live cartridges and a stolen unregistered motorcycle, were recovered from the suspect.
