GOVERNOR Samuel Ortom of Benue State, on Monday, alleged that his counterpart in Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, was one of those he described as Fulani terrorists terrorising innocent Nigerians.

Ortom also raised the alarm that his life was being threatened by the claim of the Bauchi Governor that he was fuelling a bad media campaign against the Fulanis and worsening the herders/farmers crisis in the country.

The Benue governor, who spoke during a press conference in Makurdi, said Mohammed was part of the conspiracy against him and pointed out that his life was no longer safe.

He said his counterpart had chosen to vilify and intimidate him and would therefore be regarded as one of the dreaded terrorists.

He advised the Bauchi Governor to go back and study his oath of office, which clearly stated that he should protect the Constitution of Nigeria.

The Constitution, according to Ortom, does not allow foreigners to enter the country and bear arms against Nigerians.

“Since he (Mohammed) has chosen to vilify and intimidate me, I am compelled to think that he is one of the Fulani terrorists terrorising this country. Why did I say so? This is the same governor, who took oath of office to protect the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.

“The Constitution does not give room to allow foreign armed Fulani herdsmen, Tiv people or Yoruba or any ethnic group to come in and to carry arms. But the Bauchi governor said every Fulani man is a global man.

“So, he could go anywhere at any time. It is quite disappointing to hear a governor who took oath of office saying that,” Ortom added.
