One of Nigeria’s newest political parties founded by global branding icon, Mr. Alistair Soyode, YES Party, has declared that all aspirants on its platform will not be charged any fee for the
nomination and expression of interest forms of the party for the 2019 general elections.
The party said that all intending contestants on its platform could, therefore, obtain the nomination and expression of interest forms from the party free of any charges.
This is the time many in politics have been waiting for
The party made this known after its National Executive Committee meeting held in
Abuja.
The party also approved the introduction of E-political system, the adoption of which it
believed would reduce expenses, save time, create a stronger accountability and transparency in building better democratic principles in the country through the YES platform.
According to the National Secretary of the party, Engr. Elem Chukwuemeka, “This is the time many in politics have been waiting for, an opportunity to show their leadership skills and provide good governance to the people. If not us, then who and if not now, then when?”
On whether the party would also support women or youth in collecting the forms, the National Women
Leader, Comrade Mary Manzo, said, “Women and youth are not necessarily saying they cannot afford to secure forms, but are not given the opportunity to show what they can do.
“The YES Party has eliminated that. It is, therefore, very important for all seeking to join politics with their good credentials and profiles, to take the positive step
offered,” Manzo added.
Soyode, who is currently the interim National Chairman of the YES Party, said one of the impeding issues in Nigerian politics was the ‘money bags and money politics,’ adding that the YES Party wanted to
eliminate the trend “by reorienting the minds of the electorate to avoid vote selling, seeking and looking for candidates that will deliver what democracy is all about – government of the people, by the people, for the
people.”
He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for also taking this message to the grassroots, starting with Osun
State.
The YES Party added that all approved and elected candidates were only required to contribute nominally to the party’s administrative and logistics
processes.
The party’s convention and primaries will hold before the end of
September.
