A house wife, Mrs. Racheal Adeyinka, has parted ways with her husband, Prophet Samuel Adeyinka, over the cleric’s inability to take proper care of her since they got married over a year ago. Rachael, however, told the customary court sitting in Ile-Ife, Osun State, that she had returned to the warm arms of her former husband.
According to her, if she had known that she was going to experience hardship and lack of care in the hands of the prophet of a white garment church located in Ile-Ife, she would have stayed with her former husband.
Addressing the court, Rachael said she had tried to cope with the harsh condition in the home of the cleric but when she could no longer endure starvation, she decided to seek a dissolution of their one-year-old marriage.
“I’m back to my former husband’s house, please dissolve the marriage. I have no interest again, I have tasted the two houses, my former husband is far better than this prophet,” she said.
The plaintiff had filed the dissolution suit for lack of care, desertion and public embarrassment on the part of the prophet, praying the court to separate them.
She also told the court that Prophet Adeyinka did not pay her dowry before she moved into his house.
According to her, the cleric had abandoned her for about six months without catering for her feeding, house rent, electricity bills and other welfare.
She said, “I was indebted to the tune of N20, 000 for feeding; we are yet to pay our house rent and electricity bills. He always promised to pay these debts but could not, until my former husband came to my rescue and paid the debts.”
The defendant admitted the claims made by the plaintiff, adding that he had wanted to divorce her ever since she refused to worship in his white garment church.
Prophet Adeyinka told the court that Racahel’s refusal to join his ministry compelled him to abandon her.
The President of the Court, Chief Abioye Olatunbosun, after listening to both parties, dissolved the marriage.
He asked the parties to maintain peace and keep away from trouble, henceforth.
