A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and member of the Board of Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority, Otunba Babatunde Onakoya, has that the people of Ogun East Senatorial District will back the current Chief of Staff to the Ogun State Governor, Chief Tolu Odebiyi, as the next governor of the state in 2019.

Onakoya argued that Odebiyi, who hails from Ogun West, had all the requisite qualities that the next governor of the state should have in addition to the fact that his current position as the chief of staff to the incumbent Governor Ibikunle Amosun and the experience he had gained in the course of discharging his duty as the governor’s number one aide had placed him in good stead to become the state’s next number one citizen in 2019.

He described Odebiyi as the only one who could sustain the enviable legacies and achievements recorded by Governor Amosun in the state.

The APC chieftain said in an interview with our correspondent in Abeokuta that since it was also the turn of the Ogun West senatorial district, whose indigene has never ruled the state, to produce the next governor of the state, the people of Ogun East would back Odebiyi, who is also Governor Amosun’s anointed candidate.

He argued that the rotation of the governorship position of the state should be on the basis of senatorial districts rather than on provincial consideration, which he described as unconstitutional.
