Actress and model, Linda Ejiofor, is popularly known for her role as Bimpe Adekoya in the M-NET TV’s series Tinsel.
She was nominated in the category of the Best Actress in a supporting role for her first feature film at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards. She was born in Lagos and she’s the second of five children.
The Abia State indigene attended Ilabor Primary School, Surulere, Lagos, and furthered her studies at the Federal Government Girls’ College, Onitsha, Anambra State. She later studied Sociology at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Ejiofor initially wanted to work with an advertising agency, but later changed her mind about pursuing a career in advertising. Instead, she took to acting, hoping to direct films in the future.
Narrating some of the challenges in the acting profession, she identifies piracy as the major problem confronting Nigeria’s film industry, popularly called Nollywood.
“In fact, piracy is killing our jobs. We spend so much on production only to have our works pirated. The interpretation of character is another problem. The zeal and the desire to do more is also a challenge. This is because every actress wants to be identified with,” she says.
On her personality, Ejiofor says, “I would say that I’m unpretentious, humble, cheeky and sometimes shy. I could also be blunt. My personality sometimes clashes with that of the character I’m playing at any point in time. This happens if I have played that character for too long. That’s why we need directors to put us in check and help us be the best we can, when interpreting roles.”
Many will think that the award winning celeb spends fortune to look good, but she says, “You don’t need to empty your bank account to look great. All you need is to study your body physique, your skin type and have an eye for stylish clothing.
“Generally, I like to look good at all times. Fashion for me means comfort. I like to look presentable and be comfortable in whatever I wear. I love nice-looking shoes, but I won’t be caught wearing wedges,” she says.
