Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick, says the federation will continue to build its confidence in the positive results so far recorded by the Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, with the team, saying that more is still expected of him until the team picks the World Cup ticket eventually.
He described the away 2-1 victory over Zambia in Ndola as the best tonic needed by the team to forge ahead in the qualifiers. According to him, there are still many rivers to cross by the team to get to the Promised Land.
“To qualify for the World Cup is not easy. The victory over Zambia is just the beginning of the process. We are excited about it and we hope to win all our matches in Group B. With the calibre of the teams in the group, it would be disastrous to drop a point in the series. We are happy that Algeria and Cameroon shared points and we have the best opportunity to maintain momentum with the calibre of players in the team, there is hope for Nigeria,” the NFF bigwig said.
Nigeria stormed Ndola like a thunder, scored two beautiful goals in the first half from Arsenal FC forward, Alex Iwobi and Manchester City FC hitman, Kelechi Iheanacho and the team stands to improve from the Zambia game against the dreaded Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and Desert Warriors of Algeria.
“Like the way Nigeria qualified for the 1994 World Cup, these are the best players Nigeria could get now. The players, who play regularly in their respective clubs, who are young and promising, who are hungry for success. I think we are on the right track at the moment,” he said.
