A dramatic vehicle accident on the Otedola Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday morning sparked widespread panic among commuters, as a car plunged from the bridge, injuring all four occupants inside.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority confirmed the incident in a post on X, detailing that the driver had been rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
However, reports indicate that the other three individuals involved sustained varying degrees of injury.
Authorities provided an update on the situation, confirming that traffic was severely affected by the accident.
LASTMA reported a backlog stretching from Otedola Bridge to the Berger area, with officers actively managing the scene and working to clear the congestion.
“The driver has been rescued and taken to the nearby hospital. There is a backlog from Otedola Bridge to Berger inward Secretariat, but our officers are on scene managing the situation effectively,” said LASTMA in its statement.
“Other officers are also on the ground doing the needful,” it added.
This crash occurred at the same location where a gas-laden truck explosion tragically claimed the lives of at least six people just weeks ago, drawing renewed attention to the area’s road safety risks.
