Frontline PDP presidential aspirant and former
Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental
Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has urged Nigerians to make use of their Permanent Voter Cards to elect responsible leaders.
He also pleaded with Nigerians not to lose hope as they are being
confronted with daunting challenges of living on
daily basis.
Turaki made the plea in Bauchi while addressing PDP executive
committees, delegates, elders and other members from states in the North
East zone in his ongoing consultation visits to states ahead of the party’s
national convention.
The presidential aspirant noted that “there is so much poverty, hunger,
insecurity, harassment, joblessness and disaffection in the land,” adding that “there is light at the end of the dark tunnel.”
Turaki promised that if he succeeds in being the president, he would come
up with workable policies and appoint tested and respected economic team
to revamp the economy.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said that compliance with the rule of law
and respect for the other arms of government will be the hallmark of his
administration assuring that it will be in sharp contrast to the current
intimidation and harassment of both the legislature and the judiciary, at
times with gun-wielding agents of state.
Turaki who was once the chairman, Presidential Committee on Dialogue
and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North East recalled
that the government then successfully pushed the Boko Haram insurgency
to the fringes of the country, which made it possible to hold the 2015
general elections in the frontline states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.
