A female student of University of Lagos, Akoka, (name withheld) who was reportedly gang-raped by eight students of the institution has raised the alarm that her life and that of her blind mother are being threatened by an unknown person using a hidden number.
The caller, who is suspected to be a female, allegedly threatened to instigate an attack on the lady and her mother after being
gang-raped.
The Point learnt that the blind woman and her daughter had lodged a formal complaint with the police in the state on the matter.
A source close to their family disclosed to our correspondent that the rape victim and her mother were afraid of possible attack by hoodlums.
The source said that the victim had claimed that about 11 students, including females, ganged up against her to ensure that she was gang-raped.
It was learnt that the hapless lady had gained admission into the university in the 2016/2017 academic session.
She alleged that her room mate, Peace Nwankama, lured her to the young men who raped her inside a building near the university staff quarters.
The names of the five accused persons being remanded in prison custody in connection with the crime are James Aguedo, 20; Peace Nwankama, 19; Moboluwaji Omowole, 19; Chuka Chukwu, 19 and Josephine Osemeka, 20. Others are still at large.
She listed the names of the other alleged rapists as James, Yinka, Daniel, Bolu, Seriki and Emmanuel, saying however that she did not know the names of two other young men who were also involved.
The case, which is being handled by the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court, was adjourned to a date in
April.
The 17-year-old lady said Yinka had made advances to her to no avail. The young man allegedly resorted to using force on her. However, she said as she struggled to break lose, two other male students came in and held her down for Yinka to satisfy his inordinate ambition.
Following this, she said seven other men took turn to rape her inside the
building.
