THE Oyo State Police Command revealed, on Tuesday, that unidentified hoodlums were responsible for the burning of Sunday Igboho’s house in Ibadan.

According to the Command, the hoodlums stormed the house in the early hours of Tuesday in a Hummer bus and Micra, firing sporadically, and later set the house ablaze.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Gbenga Fadeyi.

He said that the mini sitting room of the house got burnt in the process while properties, yet to be estimated, were also burnt.

“Immediately the DPO Sanyo got wind of the incident, he contacted Fire service while he also went to the scene for on the spot assessement,” the statement said.

The Police however noted that the fire was eventually put out, adding that investigation had commenced into the incident.

Some analysts have said this could be a reprisal attack, following Friday’s incident at Igangan, where several houses belonging to the Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, Saliu Abdulkadir, were allegedly razed by aggrieved youths in the community.

The crisis occurred during Igboho’s visit to enforce his seven-day vacation order to the Fulani herdsmen in the area.
