The Pro-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, DIG Udom Ekpoudom (retd), has commended the National Youth Service Corps for exposing fake graduates who were fraudulently mobilised.
He made this known in a phone interview with a journalists.
He pledged to take action against the staff involved in mobilisation of these fake graduates from the institution.
It should be recalled that the NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, listed 101 individuals who were fraudulently mobilised from UNICAL between the 2021 and 2023 service years.
The NYSC described this as a major crackdown on certificate fraud and a step towards ensuring the integrity of the national programme and preventing unqualified individuals from participating.
DIG Ekpoudom disclosed that the institution is conducting a thorough investigation to identify the staff responsible and vowed to sanction the offenders accordingly.
“NYSC has done very well in this regard. We are trying to identify the staff involved to address the issue appropriately. The individuals are not students; they forged documents to secure employment.
“This is the first step. The next step is to uncover those behind this criminal activity,” he said.
