Nigeria’s Pillar of Sport, Chief Donatus Ejidike, has expressed shock at the demise of Kano Pillars defender, Chinedu Udoji, who passed on recently following an auto accident which took place  in Kano.

The 28-year-old was returning to the Kano Pillars club house after he visited his former Enyimba teammates at their hotel when the incident happened.

Ejidike said in a telephone interview that the news of the dependable defender’s death came to him as a rude shock and prayed that God would grant the soul of the faithful departed a peaceful rest.

“Our deepest condolences go to his family, friends, fans, and football lovers all across the country,” he added.

Udoji featured for Pillars against Enyimba as they were held to a 1-1 draw on Day Nine of the Nigeria Professional Football League at the Sani Abacha stadium.

The former Enyimba defender joined Kano Pillars last season but was heavily rumoured to return to his former club before the sad event occurred.
