For two-year-old Miracle Eyitemi, life has been unkind and unfair. At her tender age, she has had to endure excruciating pains in her right eye.
Every night, when everyone some sleep and rest, Eyitemi stays awake and cries till daybreak, writhing in pains.
Her parents’ joy of having such a beautiful daughter was cut short a few months back when they suddenly noticed a white spot in her right eye.
The little white spot in Miracle’s right eye soon became a nightmare to her and her parents. Medical experts told them that the little spot was a manifestation of the cancer of the eye.
But little Miracle’s parents’ financial incapability made it impossible for the family to raise the funds for her immediate treatment. Her father has been without a job for some time.
Within a short time, the spot festered and covered her entire eyeball, resulting in the swelling and protrusion of the baby’s eyeball. Her left eye is also being threatened by the ravaging cancer.
Ever since the parents of little Miracle got the sad news from the Oghara Teaching Hospital, Oghara, Delta State, that their daughter had developed cancer of the eyes, their lives have not been the same again.
Despite their financial constraints, they have since been running from pillar to post, seeking appropriate medical treatment to help restore their daughter’s protruding eyeball and sight.
According to her father, Mr. Magistrate Eyitemi, little Miracle requires the sum of seven hundred and fifty thousand naira (N750,000) for surlast gery to restore her eyeball and sight in an Abuja Hospital.
Eyitemi said ever since his daughter was diagnosed with cancer of the eye, he had expended a lot of money in his desperate attempts to treat her, but now he no longer had the financial capability to continue with the baby’s treatment because of his joblessness.
He has, therefore, appealed to all well-meaning Nigerians and the Delta State Government to come to his aid and save his second daughter from completely going blind.
“The problem started early this year. It started with a spot inside the eye. When we discovered that the spot was spreading through the right eye, we took her to the Oghara Teaching Hospital and we were told that it was eye cancer. Since then, we could not raise the money for them to commence treatment on her and the situation got worse and damaged the eye.
“A doctor in Sapele directed us to one hospital in Kaduna and told us that the surgery can be performed there. But he told us that the child will not be able to see with the eye again. He also told us that if the surgery was not done on time, the cancer may spread to the other eye and the child may go blind. But what we are seeing now, it has already started affecting the eye.

Untitled“So since that time, we have been taking her to Kaduna for treatment before the commencement of the surgery. We have been going to Kaduna every month for the treatment. But right now, we do not have any money again, and a trip to Kaduna costs hundred thousand Naira.
“For three months now we have not been able to take her to the hospital because there is no money. The last time I took her for checkup and medication, I had to borrow a hundred thousand Naira, which I am even yet to pay back.
“We are supposed to go back to the hospital to take the last treatment on the 28 of August, 2016 before they could do the surgery. We are told that the surgery will cost us N750, 000. And, as it is now, we do not have that kind of money.
“I want to appeal to the Delta State Government under the administration of Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa to, please, come to our aid and save our daughter from going blind completely. I also want to appeal to wellmeaning Nigerians to come to our aid. We need help urgently and we believe that God will bless anybody that will assist us to save the sight of our daughter.
“We come from a very poor family and we do not have anybody to help us. We are doing our best to see how we can help our daughter because we do not know what she will become in the future. She can be a governor or a president in the future,” Eyitemi said.
He added that due to the excruciating pains little Miracle has been passing through, she could hardly sleep or even eat.
“When this pain starts, my child is always restless. She cannot sleep and she cannot eat. To make matters worse, the pain is increasing every day. This pain comes each time the treatment we give to her expires every month. Once the date we are told to go back to Kaduna for treatment lapses by a day, my daughter will become restless because of the pains she will be feeling,” Eyitemi said.
As the situation stands now, the Eyitemi family needs N750, 000 to foot the medical bill of little miracle.
