Two ladies, Chioma Ohinya and Chiemere Igwe, natives of Orizor community in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have reportedly battered each other during a fight over one man whom they both professed to be their lover.

The duo, currently receiving treatment at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, were said to have caused themselves grievous bodily harms during a fight.

They were said to have used razor blades as weapons during the scuffle, thereby inflicting injuries on themselves.

The man in contention, Christopher Orogwu, a bus driver, was said to be having amorous relationship with the two ladies who are co-tenants in Orizor community.

Narrating the incident, one of their neighbours, Justina Nwali, said that the fight turned bloody because Chiemere attacked Chioma with a razor blade which she used to make a deep mark on her left breast for allegedly snatching her man.

Nwali said, “Chioma is a single mother while Chiemere is a young girl of about 22-years. Chiemere claimed that she met Christopher Orogwu, a bus driver before Chioma and as such, warned her to stay away from him but the warning did not yield positive impact. Actually, I normally see the man visit Chiemere in our yard but why he started visiting the about 35-year-old-single-mother, Chioma, in the same yard instead of Chiemere is what I can’t explain.

“Because of Christopher, the ladies had had exchange of words at two different times. But, on the 27th of March, 2022, Chiemere invaded Chioma’s room where she was resting after Christopher’s visit and used a new razor blade to cut her on the chest, breast and back regions as she was just tying her wrapper on her body.

“Both ladies sustained cuts on the fingers because Chioma snatched the razor and retaliated. In the pool of blood, Chioma collected the razor and gave Chiemere some injuries too, hence, they are currently in the private ward of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki. Their relations and Christopher arranged that they be taken to the private ward from the Accident and Emergency Unit where they were previously rushed.”

Their landlady, Felicia Elom, said that she was not present during the fracas and could not make any comment on what really transpired.

When our correspondent visited the hospital, the Public Relations Officer, Oji Okechukwu, declined comment on the matter.

The management also barred the correspondent from interviewing the ladies.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Loveth Odah, said that the report had yet to reach her office.
