Two face trial for stealing 20 mobile phones

Detectives attached to the Apapa Police Station, Apapa, Lagos State Police Command, have arraigned two accused persons at an Apapa Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing 20 mobile phones, valued at N150, 000.


The accused persons, Ibrahim Rasheed, 20, and Olayiwole Ibrahim, 28, were said to have committed the crime recently at Number 13B, Commercial Road, Apapa.


The Investigative Police Officer, Sgt. Iyeh Alhassan, who brought the accused persons to court, said the duo committed felony by stealing.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu, explained that the two accused persons “conspired to commit felony by stealing.”


The offence is punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.


The second charge read, “The two accused persons did steal 20 assorted phones, valued at N150, 000.00 (One hundred and fifty thousand naira) property of one Abdulraman Saje (male) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”


The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. M.O Olubi, granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
