Two people have reportedly been killed and nineteen others injured in a clash between youths of Gidan Haki and Basasa villages, two neighbouring villages in Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on Sunday.
The clash occurred around 9 am on Sunday during a wedding ceremony.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, a misunderstanding broke out between youths from Gidan Haki and Bassa and it escalated into a violent clash between youths from the two neighbouring communities.
Security operatives intervened to prevent the clash from escalating, but their efforts proved abortive.
The identities of the two people who lost their lives in the clash have not been identified at press time.
The security analyst added that 15 male suspects have been arrested in connection to the clash.
“A police source said 15 male suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the clash and are currently in custody, assisting with the investigation,” Makama noted.
The Sokoto State Commissioner of Police has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to investigate the incident.
Security operatives have also been deployed to the communities to prevent a reoccurrence.
