Two brothers defraud rice dealer with N29,000 fake currency in Ogun

Police in Ogun have arrested two brother, Sunday Durosinmi Onikoyi, 29, and Felix Durosinmi Onikoyi, 20, for allegedly defrauding one Moses Nwese, a rice dealer with fake currency in Ijoko Ota area of Sango Ota local government area of the state.

The suspects, who reside at 30 Akala Street Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos, were arrested following a distress call by the rice dealer, Nwese of Gasline area of Ijoko Ota that two men came to his shop to buy two bags of rice and gave him N29,000 in fake one thousand naira denomination.

Nwese explained further that the two suspects left his shop in a haste immediately they paid him the money for the bags of rice and while he was counting the money he discovered that all the one thousand naira note were fake.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said that upon the information, the DPO Sango Ota Division, CSP Godwin Idehai, who was on routine patrol of the area with his men chased the suspects and got them apprehended in an Honda Odyssey car with registration number LSR 504 AZ.

Oyeyemi, who said that the suspects specialise in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public with fake currency, said that the police while searching the suspects recovered N78,000 notes of fake currency as well as one unregistered Bajaj motorcycle and 10 bags of rice from them.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of police, CP Bashir Makama has ordered a full scale investigation into the activities of the two suspects and that they should be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as investigation is concluded.
