TWITTER has deleted a tweet by President Muhammadu Buhari where he threatened to deal with those who refused to learn from the civil war.
The President’s tweet, it was learnt, was deleted for allegedly violating Twitter rules.
The tweet, which said the Presidency would deal with those causing destruction in a language they understood, had generated heated controversy on social media on Tuesday.
“Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War,” Buhari tweeted.
“Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand,” he added.
The President was reacting to incessant attacks on public facilities by unknown hoodlums in the South East.
Many Twitter users had reported Buhari’s tweet, which led to it being deleted.
Twitter explains the process of deleting tweets thus: “When we determine that a Tweet violated the Twitter Rules, we require the violator to remove it before they can Tweet again. We send an email notification to the violator identifying the Tweet(s) in violation and which policies have been violated.
“They will then need to go through the process of removing the violating Tweet or appealing our review if they believe we made an error,” it wrote.
