Bauchi State governorship aspirant of the Green Party of Nigeria, Prof. Sani Malami, has condemned the use of money in buying votes during the recently- concluded Bauchi South senatorial bye election, advising Nigerians to always think of their future when voting.

Malami, who made the condemnation in an exclusive chat with The Point, said  if such trend was not put to rest by the electorate, they’ll always plunge the nation into a dungeon even as he alleged  that votes were bought for as low as N100 and N500 during the bye-election.

According to Malami, in some places, a satchet of salt or Maggi cubes was used to buy the conscience of the voters.

He therefore advised Nigerians to shun the act of selling their votes, saying  no one with the purchasing power of votes will dedicate himself or herself to the service of humanity, explaining that Bauchi needs vigorous leader to turn around the fortune of the state and regain its lost glory.

He said voting the right people into positions of authority in the state will enable business activities to thrive and encourage investors to come to Bauchi . He stressed that the state is blessed with many untapped potentials that anyone living in the state will be opportune to live a happy life.

Malami, a medical consultant for about four Nigeria universities, said he was in the contest to ensure delivery of what Bauchi people desire in terms of basic needs of the people coupled with other infrastructure.

He alleged that the present administration of Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar in Bauchi State has done poorly in moving the state to a better place.

When asked if he can compare the present government of the state and the last administration of his boss, Governor Isa Yuguda, Malami said no one can compare light and darkness, explaining that the present administration in Bauchi is total black-out compared to Governor Yuguda’s administration.
