A hit-and-run truck driver who was reportedly trying to escape from traffic enforcement agents, has crushed several school pupils to death in Lagos.
The truck driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle when he ran into the students, leaving about 15 of them dead.
The sad incident occurred along Ogunusi Road, Grammar School bus stop, in Lagos.
The pupils, it was learnt, were going home after the close of school. The truck reportedly ran over them as they made to cross the road at about 2pm, while the driver fled the scene.
Angry onlookers were said to have chased the driver to Ogba area where he was eventually arrested.
“The crazy driver ran over about 15 students all in a bid to bypass the enforcement agents. It was a scary sight,” an eyewitness, who simply identified herself as Serifat Aminu, told The POINT.
There is palpable tension in the area currently as the Police try to disperse the angry crowd.
