Teenager stabs man, 23, to death over girlfriend in Bauchi

A 23-year-old man, identified as Hamza Usman, has allegedly been stabbed to death by a teenager over a girl in Bauchi, the state Police Command has said.

The Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ahmed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement, said the 18-year-old man, Kabiru Ahmed, reportedly stabbed the deceased on his chest in his girlfriend’s house.

The victim, he said, was certified dead at the hospital, where he was rushed to.

The accomplices of the teenager are still at large, according to the statement.

The PPRO said, “On November 11, 2020, about 9.45pm, a distress call was received from a good Samaritan that one Hamza Usman (23) of Anguwar Mahaukata, Bauchi went to the house of his girlfriend by the name Ramlat Shehu (not real name), 15, of the same address.

“He was attacked and stabbed in his chest by one Kabiru Ahmed, 18, of Karofi.

“As a result of the bleeding, he was rushed to the hospital for medical examination. There, a doctor certified him dead.”

He said on receipt of the information, a team of policemen was drafted to the scene and the principal suspect, Kabiru Ahmed, was arrested.

The suspect, according to the PPRO, confessed to the crime during investigation and mentioned one Abdul, aka Walplay; and Waleed, aka Bandi, as his accomplices.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest the alleged accomplices, he said, adding that the Commissioner of Police had directed that the case be transferred to the Special Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigation.
