GOVERNOR Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has arrived the venue of the 2021 South-West Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party.
While reacting to the delay in the commencement of the elections, the governor said he was allowed into the Congress premises after showing the Congress planning committee and security agents his driver’s licence.
Addressing Journalists, the Governor said the Congress was better late and thorough than for the planning committee to run into challenges.
“I had to show them my driver’s licence before I was allowed into the venue. Accreditation is starting almost two hours behind schedule but better late and thorough, than for them to rush into it and then they have challenges,” he said.
“The message to delegates is simple. This is a zonal congress and it has ramifications for our party at the national level. If it goes well in the Southwest, be sure the future is bright for the PDP at the national level. This is not just the election of zonal officials, we will put our best and they (elected officials) will in turn assist us at the national level,” the Governor added.
