Some suspected armed bandits have reportedly attacked Yanbuki village in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing seven persons.
Media reports quoted a witness as saying that the bandits, on Wednesday, invaded the community and opened fire on the residents.
The residents were said to have scampered to safety.
“We have conducted the burial of seven people who lost their lives to the attack in Yanbuki.
“They ransacked houses room by room throughout the night, burgled shops, carted away goods and foodstuffs belonging to the residents of the area,” the eyewitness said.
He added that the bandits also rustled about 500 cows and 1,000 sheep and goats, and stole other valuables.
This, according to the witness, is the second attack by the bandits since telecommunication network in the Yanbuki area was shut down.
The state police command has yet to react to the report as of the time of filing this report.
