Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Monday evening bounced back powerfully, avenging their defeat by less fancied opponents, the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau, to return to the top of Group A of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Super Eagles, desperate to redeem their image in the reverse fixture following last Friday’s shock 0-1 loss in Abuja, dominated the game but were denied several scoring chances by the resolute hosts.

However, they smiled home with victory courtesy of a solitary goal scored by Moses Simon from the penalty spot in the 30th minute of play after a Guinea Bissau defender hacked down an on-rushing Super Eagle.

The victory took Nigeria to nine points and back at the top of the group.
