GOVERNORS of Southern states of Nigeria met on Tuesday to discuss the burning issues in the country.
The governors, under the aegis of Southern Nigeria Governors Forum, urged one another to be committed to finding lasting solutions to the challenges confronting Nigeria presently.
The meeting, which held virtually, was said to have been at the instance of the Chairman of the South West Governors forum, Rotimi Akeredolu; Chairman, South-South Governors Forum, Ifeanyi Okowa; and South-East, David Umahi.
Of the 17 Governors from the Southern Nigeria, 15 attended the meeting, it was learnt.
They are: Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi; Nyesom Wike Rivers), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), David Umahi (Ebonyi), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), and Lolo Cecilia Ezeilo (deputy governor of Enugu representing the governor).
Others include Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (Abia), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos).
Though no communique had been made public as of the time of filing this report, another meeting is being proposed for Ababa, Delta State, next week, in furtherance of efforts aimed at dousing the tension in the country.
