The Osun State Government has inaugurated the local organising committee for its sports festival slated to hold between July and August, this year.
The committee was innuagurated by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Charles Akinola, on Thursday.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Sports Council, Mrs Funmilayo Moradeyo, made available to journalists on Thursday, indicated that the innuaguration was performed virtually.
It urged members of the committee, chaired by Mr Yemi Lawal, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state, to make the festival the best ever, stressing that it should be in line with the laid down rules and regulations.
The Chairman, LOC, Mr Tunde Popoola, said that they would do the needful to ensure the success of the maiden sports fiesta.
Other members of the LOC are Adeleke Adebayo, Vice Chairman and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Bola Oyebamiji, Commissioner for Finance; and Uzamot Sunkanmi, Commissioner for Health.
Others are Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, Adegboyega Adelabu; Special Adviser on Education, Jamiu Olawumi; Commissioner for Information, Mrs Funke Egbemonde; Prof. Olatunde Makanjuola; General Manager of the Sports Council, Mr Rotimi Dunmoye; and Director, Coaching and Training, Mr Demola Daini.
Also included are Tunde Popoola, Vincent Akinbami, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports Development; Bode Olaonipekun, Coordinating Director, Ministry of Youth and Sports; Mrs Taiwo Oladunjoye, Mrs Abiodun Ige and the Secretary General of the committee, Mr Layi Adesiyan
