Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The secret meeting between Soyinka and Buhari, which lasted about an hour, was held inside the President’s office at the villa.
The meeting was also attended by public relations expert, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, who was in company with Soyinka at the villa.
Although the agenda of the private meeting between the Soyinka and Buhari was not disclosed and the Presidency did not issue any statement on it, our correspondent gathered that it was not unconnected with the state of the Nigerian nation.
Soyinka, who emerged from the President’s office in company with Ogunbiyi after about one hour, declined to speak with journalists who attempted to ambush him in front of the Press Gallery.
“I didn’t come to see you people,” he said as he attempted to walk away. When pressurized further for comments on the meeting, Soyinka said, “I came to discuss national and international matters, general matters, that’s all!
“I will be holding a press conference in about a week. You can ask me any question then, but now, please, I will just like to get away.”
