The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council, has called on President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to fix the worsening erratic power supply across the country.

The body of journalists noted that the absence of regular electricity supply is affecting masses negatively, especially those whose businesses mainly depend on power.

The charge was contained in a communique released after the monthly Congress of the union held for the month of February at the NUJ Press Centre, Osogbo.

According to the Congress presided over by the Osun NUJ Chairman, Wasiu Ajadosu, the federal government should sort out the epileptic power supply affecting masses, and businesses, by making it efficient to allow customers have value for their money.

In another development, the union lauded the state governor, Ademola Adeleke on the numerous ongoing infrastructure projects across the state, describing them as strides that would improve the economy of the state.

While identifying some of the interventions of the state government including free health insurance for pensioners, poor elderly and the Persons Living with Disability as people oriented, the union urged Governor Adeleke to look into the delayed issue of his approved appointment of 66 freelance staff of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation done in May 2024, but are yet to be employed as permanent staff of the agency as at February 2025.

The Congress urged the governor to probe refusal to implement his directive issued on the said day on full employment for the concerned freelance staff of the agency.

The Congress also expressed its concerns on the expected delivery of the union bus promised by the state government to the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Osun Council.

Similarly, the Congress commended Adeleke for the implementation of new minimum wage for the workers in the state.

It appealed to residents of Ilobu and Ifon-Osun to cooperate with the reconciliation committee and allow peace and tranquility to reign supreme in their communities for peaceful co-existence in the area.
