The Kano State Police Command has arrested five persons for allegedly having anal sex with one Tajudeen Hashim, 20-year-old resident of Mandawari Quarters in Kano.
The incident was said to have been reported to the police by one of the victim’s nieces (name withheld).
The Police Public Relations Officer, Kano State Command, DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, said, “On the 15th July, at about 5pm, a complaint was received from a woman in Mandawari Quarters, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State that her nephew, one Tajuddeen Hashim, aged 20, complained of stomach pain.
“On interrogation, he told her that Ahmed Inuwa, 34, of Sharada Quarters, Mano; Nasiru Isyaku Mohd, 48, of Diso Quarters, Gwale; Lawan Uba, 31, of Kofar Dan Agundi Quarters; Auwalu Uba, 40, of Mandawari Quarters, Gwale; and Rabiu Sharu, 33, of Kabuga Quarters, Gwale, Kano; (all males), lured him and had anal sex with him on several occasions. The physical assault resulted in serious stomach pain.
“On receipt of the report, the victim was rushed to Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, Kano, where he was treated and discharged.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, was said to have ordered the immediate arrest of the suspects.
The PPRO said, “A team (of police) arrested all the five suspects on the 16th of July. On preliminary investigation, all the suspects confessed to the offence. One of the suspects, named Rabiu Sharu, of Kabara Quarters, Kano, further confessed that he was the first person to have lured the teenager and had anal sex with him.”
Kiyawa said investigation was in progress, following which the suspects would be charged to court.
