Ahead of his comedy concert on Sunday at the Shell hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan Lagos, Kenneth Agberia aka MC Shakara, has explained why it took him some time to start a comedy show. He started his comedy show, ‘Shakara and the Gang,’ last year.
The comedian, who spent the better part of his life in Jos, said there was no way he could just come to Lagos and expect people to start attending his show.
But, according to him, in spite of that, the turnout he had last year was massive. He explained, “It rained heavily that day, yet people came out to support me. Although, when you do a show of such magnitude, there must be loopholes somewhere. This year’s edition will surely be better”.
MC Shakara always wanted to be a lawyer while growing up. But the situation of the country changed his path. He narrated, “Some people wanted to be doctors, but became conductors. My first choice was the University of Jos and the second was Ahmadu Bello University. After staying at home for almost four years seeking admission, I then decided to go for a Diploma in Library and Information Science. I moved to Lagos after that even when I didn’t know anybody”.
He described growing up in Jos as peaceful, insisting that the people were lovely. “It was a very simply life in Jos. When I came to Lagos, I saw how people did not care about others. It did not happen in Jos,” he recalled.
