Seven APM lawmakers defect to APC in Ogun

SEVEN lawmakers elected on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ogun State, have returned to the All Progressives Congress.

The lawmakers said their decision followed due consultations with their constituents, including their leaders.

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Kunle Oluomo, read the letters of defection during plenary on Thursday.

He urged other opposition members in the Assembly to emulate the seven APM lawmakers by moving to the mainstream, while expressing happiness that things were beginning to take shape in the current administration in the state.

Members of the state Assembly, who defected to APC from APM are: Modupe Mujota (Abeokuta North State Constituency); Musefiu Lamidi (Ado-Odo/Ota II); Amosun Yusuf (Ewekoro State Constituency); and Ajayi Bolanle (Egbado South Constituency).

Others include: Ganiyu Oyedeji (Ifo II State Constituency); Ajibola Sikiratu (Ipokia/Idiroko); and Ademola Adeniran (Sagamu II).

Currently, there are 22 APC lawmakers, three African Democratic Congress (ADC) lawmakers and one Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member in the state Assembly.
