An Osogbo Chief Magistrate’s Court in Osun State has ordered the remand of five suspects for alleged murder.

The suspects include a 70-year-old man, Mojibade Adedapo; a 29-year old woman, Adeyeye Funke; Oyewunmi Lawrence, aged 27; Adetoro Ismaila, 42; and a 39-year-old man, Adewumi Adeoti.

According to the Police, the five persons committed the act together with some others said to be on the run.

In a charge made available to the court by the police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, the accused persons were accused of killing one Elusanmi Fatai at about 6:00am on December 26, 2022 in Ifetedo town of the state.

The offences against the suspects read, “That you Adeyeye Funke, 49; Mojibade Adedapo, 70; Oyewunmi Lawrence, 27; Adetoro Ismaila, 42; Adewumi Adeoti, 39 and others, now at large, on the 26th day of December, 2022, at about 6:00am at Ifetedo, Osun State, triable in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: murder and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

“That you (suspects) and others now at large on the same date, time, place and in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Elusanmi Fatai and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.”

The suspects were not arraigned in the open court because the Magistrate Court lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter.
However, Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara ordered that they be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.
