The Senate has confirmed the appointment of the reconstituted board of the Federal Inland Revenue Service.

The board was dissolved seven years ago, while successive Executive chairmen had been directing the affairs of the Service without a board.

The confirmation came after the consideration and approval of the report of the Senate Committee on Finance, which was presented at plenary.

Muhammad Nami had been appointed as Chairman by President Muhammadu Buhari through a letter, dated December 9, requesting confirmation by the Senate.

Other members of the board whise appointments were approved include: James Ayuba from North-Central; Ado Danjuma (North-West);  Adam Mohammed (North-East);  Ikeme  Osakwe (South-East); Adewale Ogunyomade (South-West);  and Ehile Aibangbee (South-South).

Others are: Ladidi Mohammed (Office of the Attorney General of the Federation Office);  Godwin Emefiele (CBN); Fatima Hayatu (Ministry of Finance); Maagbe Adaa (Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission); and Umar Ajiya (Nigerian National Petroleum Commission), among others.

Meanwhile, the Senate also confirmed the appointment of Mr Edward Adamu as Chairman, Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
