There was friction today (Wednesday) at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital as the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, was barred from entering by security operatives.

The Aseyi of Iseyin, Oba Abd-Ganiy Adekunle Salau, was also barred from entering the newly remodelled stadium being inaugurated today (Wednesday).

The two monarchs, who felt embarrassed by the conduct of the security operatives, were said to have left the venue in anger.

The Point reports that the kings, who were invited as very important personalities to grace the occasion, arrived in convoys with their aides.

After waiting for over 30 minutes at the entrance of the stadium, the security operatives told them that they would be allowed to entre with just one aide each.

The Assistant Director of Media and Communications to the Olubadan, Yanju Adegboyega, described the situation as very annoying.

Adegboyega said that it was lamentable that some “overzealous security operatives” barred the Olubadan and the Aseyin from gaining entrance into the stadium.

“There was nothing more that happened there. We were prevented from entering the stadium. The DSS and bouncers did not allow us to enter.

“They said that they could only allow the monarchs to enter if they could go in with just one aide. The Olubadan had no option than to leave. The Aseyin also left,” Adegboyega said.
