Disturbed by the worsening deadly clashes and killings by rival cult groups in Ijesaland, Osun State, traditional rulers, chiefs, security agencies and the judiciary have met to fashion way out of the trend.

The security meeting, held recently at the instance of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, was aimed at furnishing stakeholders with report of earlier meetings held with the youths and security operatives in the town.

Recently, Ilesa has been a hotbed of killings by the dreaded cult groups who engage in rivalry. They killed, maimed and disturbed public peace.

Oba Aromolaran, who lamented the spate of killings by the rival cult members, urged parents to instill the fear of God into their children.

Saying that blood is sacred, hence, should not be spilled, the monarch appealed to bloggers and other social media influential personalities to always verify facts before disseminating information on the state of insecurity in the town.

The Loro of Ilesa, High Chief Olalekan Folorunso, blamed the incessant cult activities in Ilesa on the nefarious activities of some ex-convicts from the Ilesa Correctional Centre.

He explained that after serving their jail terms, they often continued to engage in criminality.

In their contributions, the Ilesa Area Commander, Uche Ananwo, and the Ayeso ‘A’ Divisional Police Officer, Bamigboye Martin, said that some arrests had been made and that the police were still on the trail of those who were declared wanted by the state command.

Babatunde Aguntasolo, president of ‘Omo Owa, Omo Ekun,’ an association of Ijesa youths, hinted that the warring groups had sheathed their swords as some members promised to renounce their membership of the occult groups.
