Anorthern leader and former chieftain of the Social Democratic Party, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has described a former Minister of Information, Chief Jerry Gana, as a political thug who has no mission in politics than money.
Junaid’s reaction came following the Appeal court’s verdict, which affirmed Donald Duke as the authentic presidential candidate of the
SDP.
Recall that Duke and Gana had been in a serious tussle over who is the authentic presidential candidate of the party.
But the Court of Appeal has declared former Cross River State Governor, Duke, as the authentic presidential candidate of the party.
The three-man panel, led by Justice Abdul Aboki, in a unanimous decision, set aside the December 14, 2018 judgment of a Federal Capital Territory High Court, which had declared Gana the candidate of the party.
Following this development, Junaid, who is a former running mate of Duke and former Deputy National Chairman of the party, described Gana as nothing but a political fraud.
“I congratulate Duke for winning his mandate. Gana is nothing but a political thug, who has no mission in politics than money. He has no mission in running the race than to collect money and spend it. All he wanted to do was to use the mandate to collect money. He has no mission nor vision to run for the office,” he said.
Speaking further, Junaid said though Gana had wasted the time of the party in the coming election, he still hoped that the party would do well.
“Gana has no honour. He has wasted the party’s time but I believe that the party still stands a brighter chance to win the race. Moreover, the political game is not about winning always. Sometimes, you win and there are times that you lose,” Junaid said.
Junaid recently stepped down as the running mate of Duke in the presidential
race.
Junaid, who is one of the fiercest critics of President Muhammadu Buhari, said his decision was not far from many issues the party had been facing over time.
The party leader also stepped down as the deputy national chairman of the SDP.
Confirming all these, he said, “It is true. I stepped down a while ago because of the many hassles. I also resigned as deputy national chairman. I have written to Chief Olu Falae and Mr Donald Duke. However, I have not resigned from the party.”
