The League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states has commiserate with the Orunsolu family, the Muslim communities in Egbaland, Ogun State, Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, on the passing of the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheikh Liadi Orunsolu.
In a condolence letter, signed on Wednesday, by the Baba Adinni of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Chief Sarafa Tunji Ishola, on behalf of the League of Imams and Alfas, the late Chief Imam, who. Lived for 98 years, was described as a titan, who played a significant role in fostering unity among Muslims in Egbaland.
The letter read in part, “On behalf of the League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, I wish to commiserate with the family, the Muslim Communities in Egbaland, Ogun State, Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States on the demise of the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheikh Liadi Ayinde Orunsolu.
“Sheikh Orunsolu during his lifetime that spanned a period of 98 years, was simply a titan. He will be remembered over a long time for the significant role he played in bringing together all Muslim communities in Egbaland. Sheikh Liadi was also a key factor in the unity and cooperation that have prevailed among the Muslim Communities in Ogun State and Yorubaland.”
Ishola, who was a former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, said, at the time of the Chief Imam’s death, he was the President of the League of Imams and Alfas, Ogun State.

He said, “A man of peace, profound knowledge and immense wisdom, his contributions to inter-religious harmony is noteworthy. Successive administrations in Ogun State have benefited immensely from his frank, honest and fatherly contributions. There is no gainsaying that he will be greatly missed by the entire people of Ogun State.
“May Allah (SWT) grant the family and the Egba Muslim Community the strength to bear the loss of this colossus who was a father to all and sundry. May Allah (SWT) reward his uncommon services to man and his Creator with Aljanat Firdaus.”
