Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has disclosed his administration’s plans to construct a flyover to link riverine communities in the Oriade Local Council Development Area.

The flyover would open up the axis and ensure seamless traffic movement for better socio-economic activities.

Sanwo-Olu, however, warned residents not to dump waste on the highways and four newly flagged-off roads in LCDA and Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area on Tuesday.

The four iconic strategic roads are Old Ojo Road (Phase 1), Irede Road, Navy Town Road, and Mumuni Adio (Buba Marwa) Road.

These roads provide a link to both the Lagos Blue Line Rail on the Lagos Badagry Expressway and the Water component of the multi-modal transportation initiative with many jetties along the axis.

Addressing the apparently happy crowd who thronged the venue, Sanwo-Olu said that the state government would return to work on the possible construction of a flyover that would serve as a link to riverine communities in Oriade LCDA.

“We are going back to work on the alignment for the flyover that will take it to Ijegun Jetty to connect the riverine communities,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

The governor commended the contractors for executing quality projects and expressed his gratitude to the residents for their cooperation, patience and understanding with the government.

Sanwo-Olu explained, “These are four strategic roads that are changing the socio-economic state of the Amuwo Odofin Local Council and environs.

“We told Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL, to help the state repair the Mumini Adio Badmus Road, considering it is a major route for transportation of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, but NNPC did not listen to us, but we have done it now.”

Responding to the request of the Oriade LCDA, Mrs. Ramotalai Akinola-Hassan, the governor promised the residents that the second phase of Old Ojo Road would start soon and be completed.

“It is a road that will change life because it is a parallel road to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

The Special Adviser, Office of Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, said that the projects are critical to the development and prosperity of the council and the state.

“Each of these roads serves as a vital transportation corridor that facilitates economic growth, enhances the movement of goods and services and supports the social fabric of the local community.

“These roads improve connectivity and also support intermodal transportation, linking key transportation hubs, including the jetties and bonded terminals in the area.

“Together, these projects are part of the broader infrastructural vision that aligns with the THEMES+ agenda, especially in the areas of transportation and traffic management,” Daramola stated.
