Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed his joy over the visitation of Arsenal star, Bukayo Saka to his office.
Saka was Sanwo-Olu’s guest at the State House, Marina, Lagos State on Saturday and the governor was delighted to receive the winger.
London-born Saka has roots in Nigeria through his parents and was heavily courted by the Nigeria Football Federation before he became cap-tied to the Three Lions.
He touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport this week and is spending some part of his holiday in the country after a grueling season with Arsenal.
Sanwo-Olu who incidentally is also an Arsenal fan while expressing his emotion on Twitter upon hosting the Gunners number 7 wrote:
“Exciting day at the State House, Marina today as I had the pleasure of hosting my favourite player, Star Boy Bukayo Saka. I also enjoyed receiving my own signed Saka Jersey.
“As a proud Gunner, I’m incredibly proud of their inspiring run in the Premier League with such a young team.
“Their determination has motivated many and shown us the power of youth. We’re committed to bringing that same spirit to grassroots football in Lagos.
“Together, let’s create opportunities for our talented young players. Thank you for visiting me Bukayo and I look forward to next season”.
Having represented England’s youth sides at various levels, he made his debut for the senior team on October 2020 in an international friendly.
He has gone on to make 26 appearances, scoring 8 goals and registering seven assists for England.
