UNKNOWN gunmen have kidnapped the traditional ruler of Ikuru town in the Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRM Aarom Ikuru.
The monarch was said to have been abducted from his residence on Sunday night at about 9pm.
Palace spokesperson, Maurice Ikuru, confirmed the development to newsmen on Monday.
Some boat travellers, who were returning to Port Harcourt from Andoni, including a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt,
were also kidnapped by the armed men who were suspected to be pirates.
Spokesperson for the state Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident.
“I can confirm that some persons who were coming back from Andoni were ambushed and kidnapped. Investigation is ongoing to get the details,” he said.
