Justice Adolphus Enebeli (retd), Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, has been summoned to appear before the state House of Assembly within 48 hours over the conduct of the 2024 local government election.

During its plenary session on Wednesday, presided over by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the Assembly warned that a warrant for Enebeli’s arrest would be issued if he failed to comply with the summons.

The lawmakers also resolved to write to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, requesting him to forward the names of all his commissioners who were not screened by the Amaewhule-led Assembly.

The Action Peoples Party had praised the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission for initiating the process for the state’s Local Government Elections.

RSIEC Chairman, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, in a letter to political party leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies, and other stakeholders, invited them to a general meeting on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the RSIEC Headquarters in Port Harcourt. The meeting will feature the unveiling of the election timetable and guidelines.

Reacting, APP National Chairman, Uche Nnadi, lauded RSIEC’s move, expressing confidence in the party’s chances.

He noted that APP previously held 22 out of 23 chairmanship seats in the state and remains confident of sweeping all 23 in the upcoming elections.

He urged party members and Rivers State residents to support APP and Governor Fubara’s administration.
