Panic has gripped residents of Service Area in Osogbo, capital of Osun State after a strange man broke into one of the apartments in the community and reportedly raped a nonagenarian woman (name withheld).
The Point gathered that the unknown young man injected a fetish substance into the private part of the 93-year-old great grandmother after the act.
Some of the residents of the area expressed shock following the bizarre incident, suspecting that the suspected rapist would have carried out the ungodly act for money ritual purposes.
The sad incident reportedly happened last Thursday even as many have been wondering what could have warranted the young man, said to be at large, to be sexually abusing an old woman.
The Point gathered that the nonagenarian woman was the only person at home when the man barged into her room in broad daylight, gagged her and forced her to bed.
Some of the neighbours of the victim were said to have heard her screaming while the suspect was escaping after the act.
Narrating her ordeals to one of her children, the woman disclosed that the invader had beaten her severely and rendered her very weak before raping her.
She showed the injuries she suffered as a result of the violent acts of the suspect.
“Last week Thursday, one of mama’s neighbours called me on phone and explained to me how she was beaten up and raped by a young man at her apartment at Service area of Osogbo. I heard that Mama came out screaming after the act. She informed a woman who sells provisions beside her house that a man came in and beat her and inflicted injuries on her head, face and thighs.
“We thought it was bodily assault alone. But, to our greatest shock, mama started feeling pains on her private part when one of her children was massaging her body with hot water. It was at that point that she revealed that the man also raped her.
“Immediately, we took her to the Police Clinic in Osogbo for treatment,” a close relative of the victim who did not want to be named said.
It was gathered that the matter was reported at Dada Estate Police Station for necessary investigation.
“We first went to the Police Headquarters but it was there they referred us to Dada Estate Police Station. After reporting the matter, we later took her to the police clinic for treatment.
“Mama said the person pushed her to the floor immediately he came into her room. She said he started beating her and later removed his manhood and forced it into her private part.
“We are suspecting that the act is connected with these young boys that are into ritual money because there is a herbalist that stays close to Mama’s house, he might be responsible for the act,” the relation said.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola, did not answer telephone calls put across to her by our correspondent.
