Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi is currently making waves in Holland and has been ranked among the top five right-backs plying their trade in the Dutch Eredivisie according to reports.
Born December 16, 1995, Ebuehi currently plays as a right-back for Dutch Eredivisie Club ADO Den Haag.
He also played for youth teams of several different amateur clubs and joined professional club, ADO Den Haag, from its amateur clubside in 2013.
Ebuehi made his Eredivisie debut in August 10, 2014 in a 0-1 home defeat against Feyenoord Rotterdam.
With the first half of the season almost concluded, the Dutch football website asked followers of the Eredivisie to pick their Team of the Season so far and Ebuehi has been shortlisted for the right-back position.
Ebuehi, who celebrated his 22nd birthday recently, was nominated alongside another Nigerian player, Kingsley Ehizibue (PEC Zwolle), who is being monitored by the Nigeria Federation Federation, with a view to a call-up to the national team.
Jonas Svensson (AZ), Santiago Arias (PSV) and Denzel Dumfries (Sc Heerenveen) were also listed among the top five right backs in the division.
This season, Ebuehi has started all but one of the matches contested by ADO Den Haag in the league, he was not available for selection against FC Groningen on December 2 due to the red card he received the previous weekend.
Ehizibue has been a key player at PEC Zwolle this term, starting all their seventeen matches in the league and clocking up 1,523 minutes.
Ebuehi was born in the Netherlands to a Nigerian father and Dutch mother. In November 2016, he was called up to the Nigeria national team for the first time for a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Algeria. However, Ebuehi declined the call-up, and stated that he needed some time to settle into his club, ADO Den Haag.
He was later called up for friendlies against Senegal and Burkina Faso in March 2017 and joined up with the squad. Ebuehi made his senior debut for Nigeria in a 3-0 friendly win over Togo on June 1, 2017.
The 21-year-old Ebuehi who also impressed in his cameo appearance against the Albiceleste has set his sights on making the Super Eagles squad for Russia 2018 World Cup.
The full-back replaced Shehu Abdullahi after the interval as Gernot Rohr’s men overcame a two-goal deficit to secure a 4-2 win over Jorge Sampaoli’s men in a friendly encounter in Krasnodar.
Despite coming up against Paris Saint-Germain’s Angel Di Maria and AS Roma winger Diego Perotti, Ebuehi gave a solid performance defensively – and was also a reliable offensive outlet, on the right wing.
And the Dutch-born player believes he has done enough to convince the Super Eagles’ selectors of his talent of his chances to be in next year’s showpiece in Russia.
“I think it went well, I have a lot of speed and I try to get a lot,” Ebuehi stated.
“I did not contribute that much. I think I left a good impression, it would
be nice to be part of that World Cup next year.”
