The onset of rainfall on Saturday morning delayed the delivery and distribution of electoral materials in some areas of the Edo Central Senatorial District.

Edo Central district consists of five LGAs: Esan South-East, Igueben, Esan North-East, Esan West, and Esan Central.

It is expected to be a highly contested area as both the People’s Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress candidates come from this region.

As of 7:50 am, election materials and officials had not reached most of the polling units visited, and many residents remained indoors due to the rain.

At three polling units near the Ogboji area in Irrua and Alli Square in Ekpoma centres, only a few voters were waiting for the arrival of INEC officials, and there was no indication that the election was taking place due to the absence of materials and officials.

Voters anxiously awaited the arrival of materials and logistical support.

Some ad hoc officials reported that they had not yet been paid, while others stated they had already received their payment.

The restriction on movement was strictly enforced, with diligent security personnel ensuring that only residents with voter cards used the road to reach their respective polling units.

This strict enforcement instilled a sense of order and security, even in the midst of the heavy rainfall.

At the time of writing this report, the heavy rainfall was still ongoing, but the security measures remained in place.
