Protesters, numbering about 50, stormed the National Secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress, in Abuja, to demand the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee.
The protesters, who were mainly youths, accused the NWC of being behind the party’s ongoing crisis, particularly in Edo and Ondo states.
One of the group’s leaders, Okpokwu Ogenyi, in his address to journalists at the secretariat, gave party leaders a 48-hour ultimatum to resolve the crisis or witness more protests across the country.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has been in a closed-door meeting with APC governors.
The meeting may not be unconnected with the various crises rocking APC and the need to save the party from collapse.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan had also met with the President before this.
Recall that Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, dumped APC for opposition Peoples Democratic Party, last week. Days later, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, also dumped the party for PDP.
The crisis deepened with the suspension of the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
