The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Tuesday, urged Nigerians, especially Christians to emulate the selfless sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Adelabu, in his message, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, further called on citizens to rededicate themselves to the betterment of fellow Nigerians and the country, reflecting on the sacrifice Jesus made to redeem humanity.

He wished them a joyous celebration and emphasised the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice.

The minister also used the opportunity to reassure Nigerians of the President Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to delivering on its Renewed Hope Agenda.

Adelabu expressed optimism that Nigerians would soon begin to reap the dividends of democracy.

“On this occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ, this is to wish our Christian brothers and sisters a wonderful celebration. Let us all reflect on the sacrifice that the Saviour of the World, made by becoming a mere mortal, in other to redeem us of our sins.

“We are encouraged by this huge and monumental sacrifice of Jesus Christ, to also key into this sacrifice, in giving our support to the economic reforms by President Tinubu, as the reforms are being undertaken to secure the future of all Nigerians. The reforms have started yielding positive results, especially in the power sector as evidenced by improved power supply to households and businesses across the country.

“The reforms, particularly in the power sector, have started yielding positive results and those results will be consolidated to make life more meaningful for all Nigerians. Beyond the National grid alignment, renewable and alternative sources of electricity supply are being vigorously pursued, especially for our educational and health institutions.

“President Tinubu has restated the fact that electricity is a fundamental human right of all Nigerians and we at the Power ministry are pursuing this agenda with vigour and we promise to deliver on this, as directed by Mr President. The new year will herald a new dedication and commitment in this area and in all the power sector value chain.”

He therefore urged Nigerians to own the power infrastructure in their areas and ensure its protection from vandalism.

“By preventing the acts of vandalism through our vigilance, we are also ensuring the protection of our grid from collapse and the gains achieved in the incremental addition of power to the grid as promised Nigerians”, he said.
