The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has concluded arrangements to host an All-Comers
Event on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the High-Performance Center, Port Harcourt.
It is the first official event on the 2017 calendar of the AFN.
Head of Media and Communication for the AFN, Olukayode Thomas, said that the All-Comers
event will among other things be used to test the readiness and sharpness of the athletes
who have been sweating it out with their various clubs and State federations.
“The federation will be having it’s All-Comers event at the High Performance Center in
Port Harcourt on Wednesday, this is a good chance for athletes to put to test all they
have been learning in the early season training they have been having,” Thomas stated.
Already, athletes across the country have arrived in the ‘Garden City’ as they are keen to
get off the block after rigorous training exercises all geared towards making them excel
in the action-packed 2017 calendar.
Some of the athletes who were spotted on Tuesday trying to put finishing touches to their
programme said they are happy their season is set to start with a bang.
As stated by the AFN Technical Department, activities at Wednesday’s All Comers Meet will
cut across the track as well as the field events.
The AFN All-Comers Meet is opened to athletes in the Senior, Junior and Youth categories.
